Waterways of Holland and Belgium aboard M.S. Royal Crown featuring Floriade World Horticultural Expo
April 20 to 28, 2012

There is no better time of year to explore the Dutch and Flemish countryside than in April, when fields of tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils transform the landscape into an exotic carpet of flowers. Cruise the calm waterways at a leisurely pace aboard the M.S. Royal Crown, with only 45 cabins. Enjoy the ambience of the towns and learn about the rich history of the people who have shaped the culture of this region.

The beauty of springtime will be complemented by visits to the Aalsmeer Daily Flower Auction and to Floriade, the world’s largest horticultural exposition. Flowers have been a major Dutch industry for centuries and international market prices for plants and flowers are determined daily at the auction in Aalsmeer. At Floriade, experience a kaleidoscope of unique flora from around the world, highlighting “living nature” and its interconnection with health, the environment, “going green” and sustainable architecture.

Other visits include a guided tour of the Rijksmuseum to see works of the Dutch masters, the charming fishing port of Volendam, the Keukenhof Gardens and the historic towns of Willemstad, Bruges, and Antwerp.

We hope that you will consider joining the SBMA this spring to celebrate flowers and art, while cruising along the delightful canals and waterways that criss-cross the region.
