Each four-week beginner throwing class is inspired by a single work of art or collection of artworks on display at the Museum. Students will learn how to prep materials, use basic tools, center clay, throw simple forms and trim and glaze their pieces.

Inspiration works for this class are Chinese tea bowls on view in our Asian art collection. Students will learn to throw small tea bowls and use brown and black underglaze and colored glazes to decorate their pieces. Clear glaze will be applied by the instructor before the final firing.

Instructor: Luna Vallejo-Howard
