Digital Membership Cards

SBMA Members now have the option to use a digital membership card!

The card lives in your smartphone wallet, so you can carry it with you anywhere you go. That means no more forgetting your card when you visit, and you can help us cut down on paper usage by opting out of your regular paper card.

Once downloaded, your card will update automatically every year upon renewing.

All Members will continue to receive hard-copy cards upon renewal, unless otherwise requested. If you would prefer to no longer receive hard-copy cards, please let us know.

How do I use my digital card?

Your digital membership card is unique to your membership and displays your name, membership level, expiration date, and a barcode for us to scan. Simply show your digital membership card to our staff at the Museum to take advantage of your member benefits!

How do I download my digital membership card?

Digital membership cards will be sent to the primary email address of all active Members. You will need to open this email on your smartphone and follow the instructions to download the card. The card will be automatically stored in your phone’s wallet app.

  • For iPhone Users
    Access the digital membership card email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click “Add to Wallet,” and “Add.” The card will automatically go to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet. It can be accessed in the wallet app at any time.

  • For Android Users
    First you will need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access the digital membership card email from your smartphone and click “Download” in the email. The card will then be added to your Wallet Passes app where it can be accessed at any time.

I am not sure that I received my digital card. Can you send it again?

Yes! Please contact us at, or 805.884.6490, and we can resend the email for you to download your digital card. You may want to check the Junk, Spam, or Unwanted folders of your email. The email subject line will read, “Your New Membership Card.”

Will my digital card update when I renew my membership?

Yes! The digital card will automatically update when your membership information changes. For example, your expiration date and membership level will automatically update the next time you renew or upgrade your membership. You will only have to download the digital card once and you will be set!

How will I receive my guest passes?

Guest passes will continue to be mailed to you when you renew at the Associate Patron level or higher.

Can I use my digital card in order to get reciprocal access?

Associate Patron Members and above will see the logo for their reciprocal programs on their digital cards. Members can show the logo on their digital cards at participating institutions just like they would their paper card.

How can I share the digital card with the other person on my membership?

Digital membership cards will read the names of both individuals included on your membership.

Navigate to the back of the card by clicking the small “i” on the front. Then use the “Share Pass” button to send the card to the additional member.
Navigate to the back of the card by clicking on the icon in the upper right-hand corner. Then click on the share icon in the upper right-hand corner to send the card to the additional member.

The primary email on your membership will receive the email with a link to download your membership card. After downloading, you will then need to share the card with the second individual on your membership. The digital membership card email cannot be forwarded, as each download link can only be used once.

Can I update the email address(es) associated with my membership?

Yes! Please contact us at, or 805.884.6490, to update your information. Please also review and update your contact information as you renew your membership.
