Making Art as a Septuagenarian: Reflections on Monet’s Late Works

A renowned Monet expert takes us inside the heart and mind of the artist, discussing some of Monet’s most beloved works including his Water Lilies series, created in the artist’s later life.

Art à la carte is a series of lectures by acclaimed speakers who will inspire new ways of thinking about art, culture, and travel. All proceeds benefit the Museum’s exhibitions, education, acquisitions, and special projects. Enjoy delicious lunch at the beautiful and historic Santa Barbara Club,  accompanied by an enlightening lecture from one of our speakers.

Paul Tucker

Paul Hayes Tucker is Professor Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Boston where he taught for 36 years. A specialist in 19th and 20th century art, with a Ph.D. from Yale University, Paul is considered the leading authority on Claude Monet. He has written and edited 11 books, curated more than half a dozen international exhibitions, and contributed numerous essays to museum catalogues and art historical publications. The recipient of numerous academic awards, Paul has also been heard on NPR and has appeared frequently on television including Good Morning America, The Today Show, and The Charlie Rose Show. Now a resident of Santa Barbara, he is presently writing a textbook on modern art.
