Draw & Design

Discover connections between art, nature, and science in this exploration-based camp. Two and three-dimensional works of art in the Museum’s collection will inspire drawings in graphite, ink, and charcoal, surprising sculptures, and imaginative mixed-media “fantasyscapes”.

Painting & Bookmaking

Explore the art of storytelling drawing inspiration from landscapes, still-lives, and portraits on view in the Museum’s galleries. Campers learn painting techniques including color mixing, brushwork, composition, and layering on canvas and board. Bookmaking will include folding, cutting, and stitching a one-of-a-kind book to fill with drawings, small scale paintings, and mixed-media collage.

Ceramics & ReMade – Textiles

Spend the morning in the clay lab learning the basic techniques of throwing pottery at the wheel in a fun and relaxed environment, making simple clay forms, and experimenting with surface decoration and glazing techniques. After lunch, focus on multimedia re-made projects that combine, reuse, and repurpose materials into unexpected works of art inspired by the Museum’s collection.

Refund Policy

Please email communityprograms@sbma.net to cancel an enrollment. Full refunds will be given for cancellations made four weeks prior to the class start date. Future camp credit will be offered for cancellations made two weeks prior to the class start date. No refund will be provided past the four-week date.
