Scholarship Program

When is fun more than just fun? When it includes experiences that lead to new perspectives. When children see the beauty in a single leaf, a human face, the creativity of thousands of years of human history. When they learn to express themselves with pencil, paint, clay and color. And that friendships can flourish in the shared safe and nourishing space of creativity.

In the creative space of SBMA Art Camps, students explore art fundamentals such as drawing, painting, sculpting, color, and composition while connecting to the Museum’s current exhibitions. As students create art, they build confidence, become actively familiar with the Museum, and learn visual thinking strategies which enhance communication, visual literacy skills, and critical thinking across all curriculum areas. All camps include a visit to the Museum to learn about and be inspired by original works of art. The Museum's exceptional team of Teaching Artists include painters, sculptors, illustrators and ceramicists who are all experienced art educators.

Now, you can give the gift of camp scholarships, making a new way of seeing possible for children who otherwise would never have the chance to learn the skills of photography, sculpture, drawing and painting.

And more importantly to feel the conviction and power in saying proudly, “I am an artist.”
