The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is one of the finest museums on the West Coast and is celebrated for the superb quality of its permanent collection. The Curatorial Assistant in Asian Art supports research and cataloguing of the permanent collection acquisitions, assigned projects, and assisting with exhibition preparation (preparing checklists, press copy and other publicity materials, assisting in research, proofing materials for exhibitions and maintaining files). This position also provides clerical assistance with departmental tasks, including telephone inquiries, correspondence, and serving as liaison with other Museum departments, donors, visitors, and patrons.
Requires excellent organizational abilities, experienced office work, general knowledge of art history preferred, and demonstrated writing capabilities. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Photo editor; knowledge of TMS collection database software and basic graphic design skills are desirable. Excellent proofreading skills, thoroughness, and attention to details in general are also required. BA in Art, or Art History is required and a Masters of Arts and museum experience are preferred.

- Schedule is full time, 40 hours/week, non-exempt status
- Compensation: $23.23/hour
